Fall Colorado Color Trip, 2008
We just got back from a 3 week trip to southwestern Colorado. We took the motor home, the truck and the ATV. And, we used the ATV almost everyday and it was wonderful. The scenery was about a good as it gets. Check out the pictures, the aspens were in their prime, and then it snowed on the mountain tops to add to the views. Great!! The weather co-operated most of the time. Our worst weather was when we were in Redstone. But, we survived well; we were in a campground with electricity, so were warm and cozy. Redstone is a very small, quaint town with a coal mining history, an inn that used to house miners, and a castle built for the coal company owner that we toured. We visited through a number of little Colorado towns. Enjoyed a mineral soak in Ouray and a great taco dinner. Browsed the shops in Creede and Crested Butte. Went through Buena Vista, Lake City, Leadville (the highest city in the US), Montrose, Silverton, and Durango. Had only one little incident, a flat tire on the truck. Thank goodness we were in Buena Vista when it happened and it only took us part of the afternoon to get it fixed. Dennis was a trooper taking off the flat and having to get the spare out from under the truck.
